Dr. Julien Botot created the world's first toothpaste, "Eau de Botot," in 1755 on direct order from King Louis XV of France. While Louis would eventually become one of the least popular rulers in his country's history, by implementing questionable financial policies that some say led to the French Revolution, at least he can take credit for promoting proper oral hygiene.
The current Botot toothpaste is derived from the good doctor's original concoction. It's both delicious and effective -- made from a natural gillyflower (clove family) base that warms the gum line and cleanses the mouth. Brushing your teeth has never been this royal.
